Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Yet Another Record After Scoring Twice in Sporting Gijon Win

Published on: 26 November 2016

It's hard to keep track of just how many records Cristiano Ronaldo has broken.

The three time Ballon d'or winner seems to break at least one record every month and the Portuguese star was at it again on Saturday, during Real Madrid's narrow win over Sporting Gijon.

CR7 scored twice to give his side a 2-1 victory that means they are currently six points clear at the top.

After a slow start to the campaign, Ronaldo has single-handedly won Los Blancos' last two La Liga matches, having scored all five goals in their respective wins over Atletico Madrid and Gijon.

Cristiano es el PRIMER JUGADOR en TODA la historia de #LaLiga que marca 30+ goles en 7 años naturales (2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-2015-2016)

And those five strikes now means he is the first ever player to score 30+ goals in a calendar year for the seventh time.

The remarkable statistic surpasses the efforts of his nemesis Lionel Messi and underlines how good Ronaldo has been this year.

With the Ballon d'Or soon to be decided, you can't help but feel this will be CR7's year and this latest record will only help add to the feeling that Ronaldo would be aworthy winner of football's most coveted individual prize.

50+ goals for club and country, six straight calendar years.
